Description
Chinese blue and white rice bowl, late Ming Dynasty (late 16th-early 17th century, Wanli). Unglazed base of burnt orange color. A Minyao rice bowl painted with free, confident brush strokes typical of the period. Subject is probably a young dragon (Chilong), a common subject for the period. Bowl has a very short foot and unglazed base. Radial chatter marks are clearly visible on the base. Dark lines seen in photos do not go through bowl’s body (glaze only, crazing))
