Pennsbury Pottery is a small Pennsylvania pottery which mostly produced items (from 1951 to 1971) with a Pennsylvania Dutch or Amish flair so, when a different sort of piece shows up, it gets pretty exciting!
This is one of those pieces.
This wall plaque depicts the Western & Atlantic Railroad's locomotive, the General. The background of the piece is done in an oak-coloured woodgrain with the high-relief General in dark red, green, black and mustard-yellow with the title incised above and below the train. The plaque is trimmed in kelly green.
This piece measures about 8" wide by almost 6" tall by 1 1/2" deep and is in EXCELLENT condition with no chips, cracks or crazing ~ the original string for hanging is even still there!
