Description:
|
This early 1920's Art Deco wall pocket has been attributed to Peters and Reed. It is documented on page 134 of "American Art Pottery Wall Pockets" (Mark Bassett, 2004). Peters and Reed Pottery was unmarked before 1922. The extraordinary gloss glaze is a mottled deep ultramarine blue, with a faint luster of rose and gold. A beautifully designed and sturdy piece, it measures 8½ inches long x 4½ inches wide x 2½ inches deep (front to back). It is in perfect condition, and does not show any sign of ever being used with water. On the back surface there are a few very fine, faint surface craze lines and factory kiln marks. (# RPMP1003)
