I've had this oil jar for years believing it was McCoy art vellum. Upon taking it out to photograph I realized the mold number on the bottom (139) correlates with Robinson Ransbottom Pottery (RRP). This wasn't a huge disappointment as I collect both potteries.
This is a big piece both in visual scale and weight. It's stoneware and feels the role.
The glaze is from a 1939 line called Victoria that in its day was a premium finish.
Dimensions (approx):
Width: 4 3/4" at rim
Width: 7 3/4" at shoulder
Width: 4" at base
Height: 10"
Defects or wear include:
Factory cut in mold on base. Does not show from side nor intrude into interior.
Glazed blue on inside with a skip just beneath the rim.
Bright white spots in the picture are from my lighting.
If this were a McCoy art vellum piece it may fetch well north of $100. The price here represents a good value for the collector.
