Very Rare Fleuron, North Tonawanda New York Vase. About 5.5" tall. Unglazed, as most the Fleuron pottery I have seen is. I have seen 4 pieces in my life, 2 pink clay (1 mine), one green glazed and this black clay one. There seems to be very little known about this company. It apparently was in business but a short time in the late 20's or early 30's. It is possible they made blanks for other decorators. This vase has but a few scuff marks, but no damage.
Additional information: I have been told these vases were made using a ram press to simply press dry clay into shape. if you have one DO NOT GET IT WET. Rumor has it that it will fall apart if wet. No wonder they are rare.
Warning: I have seen glazed, stoneware copies of this vase. They are abount an inch shorter (4.5 inches)
